Statistics

Reno, Nevada, which managed to woo the Gold Cup hydroplane classic to its home waters, is now bending every effort to make this year's event "the biggest boat raced ever staged." Competition for the $35,000 prize money will be held on Pyramid Lake, 30 miles northeast of Reno proper. Two other big scale Hydro events have been held successfully at Pyramid in the last two years. According to a recent report, Gold Cup will be underwritten by Reno business firms which will support the more than 150 committee members currently engaged in programming the event.
