Statistics

The 1961 Gold cup championship race for unlimited hydroplanes was officially awarded to Reno, Nev., according to Charles W., Mapes, founder of the Reno Regatta and chairman of the gold cup campaign. Races will be held Aug. 26-27 on Pyramid Lake, 32 miles northeast of Reno. The site and program as proposed by Mapes was selected over the proposals of Seattle, Detroit and other large boating centers.
