1956 Mapes Mile-High Gold Cup
Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, CA, July 7, 1956


In a closely contested race on July 7 at the Lake Tahoe Mile High regatta for unlimited hydroplanes, Shanty I, owned by W.T. Waggoner of Phoenix, Arizona, carried off the Mapes Gold Cup, with Hawaii Kai III, owned by Edgar Kaiser of Oakland, second. She then went on up to Seattle to win first place in the Seattle Seafair Race.
